2018 marked the third year of the VA WRX, and the aftermarket went on full tilt with a very larger offering of performance products. The flat four FA20F responds really well to the household upgrades such as the COBB V3 Accessport, The Invidia R400 Quad-Tip Cat-Back Exhaust System, as well as the COBB SF Intake System. But there are other mods that are just as important to make sure you keep your engine happy and long-lasting.
For example, a PERRIN Air Oil Separator kit will keep harmful oil vapors from entering the intake system which will ultimately coat the pistons and cylinders lowering your gas octane rating. And a GrimmSpeed Front Mount Intercooler Kit will be the ultimate defense against heat soak. An important note to keep in mind is that anytime you perform upgrades where you are making more horsepower and boost, you MUST supplement that power with the right amount of fuel delivery. With these mentioned modifications, an upgraded DeatschWerks DW300 fuel pump should be installed to increase the fuel flow, while having a proper AEM Electronics X-Series Wideband AFR gauge will let you know that your tune is within the proper range without going too lean, or too rich.
