The IAG 1000 FA24 Short Block is built to blend street manners with serious track capability, designed for high-horsepower FA24 builds targeting up to 1000 BHP with the right supporting parts. It combines upgraded rotating assembly components with IAG’s machining and quality control to create a reliable base for aggressive boost and racing use.
Key upgrades include +2mm IAG-spec forged H-beam rods, JE forged pistons with a plated ring area, and heavy-duty H13 tool-steel wrist pins. The block is also machined to work with IAG’s Fire-Lock™ sealing approach and 14mm head stud hardware (sold separately). Each short block is assembled with performance bearings and built to handle demanding conditions.
This short block starts with brand-new Subaru FA24 2.4L WRX case halves. The assembled case is machined to accept IAG closed deck inserts, then bored and honed to 94.25mm using IAG’s in-house honing process to dial in piston-to-wall clearance for quieter operation and reduced oil consumption.
The case is also machined for the Fire-Lock™ ring groove and drilled for 14mm head studs. Assembly includes a new 2022+ FA24 heat-treated WRX crankshaft, IAG-spec connecting rods with ARP fasteners, ACL rod and main bearings, balancing/blueprinting, and sealing with new OEM hardware and sealant.
For high-boost reliability, the block is machined for IAG’s Fire-Lock™ head gasket system, which uses a dedicated combustion sealing ring and separate gasket bodies for oil/coolant sealing. This approach is intended to improve sealing at elevated cylinder pressures when paired with the required Fire-Lock™ gaskets and 14mm head studs (both sold separately).
IAG’s closed deck insert system reinforces the upper cylinder wall area to reduce flex and the risk of cracking that can occur under high cylinder pressure. The inserts are installed with a heat/freeze process and finished to a precise surface, and incorporate coolant passages designed to maintain cooling performance for street use.
The IAG 1000 FA24 uses IAG-spec JE FSR 2618 forged pistons with electroless nickel plating on the tops and ring area, thicker ringlands, and JE skirt coating. The piston package includes upgraded .230" wall H13 tool steel offset wrist pins intended for high-horsepower use.
