ENGINEERED FOR HIGH HORSEPOWER DRAG RACING
The IAG 1150 Short Block is meticulously designed for enthusiasts who frequently engage in drag racing with their high-horsepower Subarus. While still suitable for street driving, the IAG 1150 is primarily crafted for the demands of the track. This block incorporates advanced features to further reinforce the OEM case halves, including Stage 4 Closed Decking and pinned mains secured with ARP case hardware. Our renowned "Fire-Lock" Head Gasket system and 14mm head studs are employed to ensure an airtight seal even under extreme conditions. Equipped with IAG Spec "Tri-Beam" +2mm forged connecting rods, the IAG 1150 Short Block ensures exceptional durability. To accommodate additional oiling and prevent main bearing distortion, an IAG Spec Billet Crankshaft is utilized. With these upgraded components, including the block, billet crank, connecting rods, race bearings, and forged pistons, the IAG 1150 Short Block is engineered to withstand the increased engine load generated by the largest turbochargers and the most demanding applications, including competitive drag racing.
CONSTRUCTED WITH 100% NEW COMPONENTS
Each IAG Short Block undergoes construction using exclusively new components. The modified case halves are meticulously assembled, featuring an IAG-Spec Billet crankshaft precisely matched with ACL or King race main bearings. Custom IAG TRI-BEAM +2mm connecting rods, augmented with ARP 625+ rod bolts, are employed, accompanied by ACL or King race rod bearings. To ensure a secure seal, OEM sealant and ARP main bolts are utilized. Completing the assembly, the IAG-Spec 99.75mm Custom Forged Pistons, featuring .250" / .927" wrist pins, as well as electroless nickel plated tops and ring area, are meticulously selected for the IAG 1150 Short Block.
IAG 1150 CLOSED DECK WITH FIRE-LOCK SYSTEM
The foundation of the IAG 1150 Short Block comprises brand new Subaru 2.5L EJ25 engine case halves. These case halves undergo a meticulous process wherein they are split, and the main webs are CNC machined using our Haas VF-4SS CNC mill, employing 9.5mm pins to minimize distortion and movement of the case, particularly in extreme conditions. Subsequently, the case halves are reassembled, and IAG machines the case to integrate the IAG CLOSED Deck Inserts, effectively transforming the block into a solid deck. These distinctive inserts feature small passages that facilitate essential coolant flow to the deck surface. The case halves are further CNC machined to accommodate our innovative Fire-Lock™ head gasket solution, which draws inspiration from diesel technology. This involves machining a counterbore step around each cylinder bore to accommodate specially sized fire rings, ensuring optimal sealing. Additionally, the IAG 1150 case is CNC drilled and tapped to accommodate 14mm head studs, further enhancing stability under extreme boost conditions. Employing the new Fire-Lock™ gasket solution, along with larger IAG / ARP 14mm head studs, nuts, and washers, reduces the risk of head lifting. Finally, the short block undergoes Deck Plate boring and honing to 99.75mm using our in-house Sunnen SV-30 cylinder hone. Leveraging IAG's in-house honing process, custom piston-to-wall clearances are meticulously set to ensure both performance and reliability.
OUR MOST DURABLE PISTONS YET
In the IAG 1150 Short Block, we introduce our most robust pistons to date: The IAG-Spec 99.75mm Custom Forged Pistons with .250" / .927" wrist pins, boasting electroless nickel-plated tops and ring areas. Engineered with a focus on strength and durability, IAG's custom pistons feature a lightweight design while strategically reinforcing areas where strength is critical, exclusively tailored to complement the IAG +2mm Tri-Beam connecting rods. The wrist pin, crafted from resilient H13 tool steel, is notably short and engineered to enhance pin boss strut through profiled pin piers. Furthermore, IAG's pistons incorporate a 25% larger oil ring to mitigate oil consumption, along with additional gas ports that bolster ring sealing, particularly in high boost conditions.
