The Gates Timing Belt Kit has been built to meet or exceed OEM build quality to provide you with a reliable timing belt kit that will provide you with the performance needed until your next service interval. The EJ engine is an interference engine so to put things into perspective if your timing belt snaps, at the very least your engine will have to come out. Your heads will have to be removed and sent off to a machined shop where they will have to re-deck and replace all the valves. And depending on how badly the pistons are damaged that made contact with the valves, you just have to opt for a rebuild at this point. Of course, all of this can be avoided if you replace your timing belt at the required service interval. Note that this will also include the timing belt.
