The aerospace-grade aluminum hat reduces unsprung weight at each corner while allowing the cast-iron ring to expand radially and uniformly under heat, and it reduces heat transfer from the disc into the hub compared to a single-piece design. DBA offers both complete assemblies and separate replacement rings, so once the ring eventually wears, the hat can be reused with a fresh DBA ring rather than replacing the whole assembly.
