The aftermarket was full steam ahead for both the VB WRX and STI. This particular model was very popular among enthusiasts particularly the STI as it inherits the decorated EJ25, so performance products were quickly made available. However, there was an emphasis on the exterior as you could fit a very aggressive wheel size under those fender wells, and companies such as OLM went into overtime by developing all the products. For example, their S209 12-Piece Painted Matched Fender Flare Set provided the body with a wider stance. Seibon had several carbon fiber options that included their carbon fiber hoods, as well as their fenders. And APR offered more downforce with their Front Air Dam, as well as their GTC-300 Rear Wing.
Going back to the wheel size, it was discovered that you could fit up to an 18x10.5 wide wheel with up to a 275/35/18 tire lowered on coilovers. To improve the handling, it is well-known that sway bars are one of the best investments for any generation of WRX and STI. Chassis bracing further tightened up the body to reduce body roll while sharpening the steering during fast corners. With upgrades that further increased the aerodynamic refinement combined with chassis reinforcement, the VB STI remained very competitive on weekend track days, while being a blast to have as a daily driver.
