2015 was the year that debuted the VA STI. This was a new and exciting platform as the WRX had undergone many changes which included a motor redesign. For the STI, it kept the EJ25 as it is a flagship engine for the rally-inspired AWD supersedan. For 2016 the production continues as the aftermarket had a year to develop the latest and greatest products for the VA. Turns out, you can fit a pretty wide tire under those fenders, and many enthusiasts upgraded to wheels such as the Advan RGIII Special Edition wheels, in the 18x9.5 size wrapped in meaty tires. With wider tires on this wide chassis, this meant that the exterior of the STI was vulnerable to more rock chips sandblasting the rocker panels. To combat this, a set of Rally Armor Mud Flaps were added to not only protect the vehicle, but to protect other surrounding drivers. And since the STI had been in its 11th year of production, companies such as COBB Tuning knew how to make more power with their Staged Power Kits. With a combination of wheels and power, the 2016 STI is a lot of car for the money that handles well, looks great, and makes all of those glorious rumble noises that we all recognize.
