2004-2007 SUBARU STI PARTS
2004 was an exciting year for Subaru as they finally released a Subaru WRX STI for US markets. Quickly gaining notoriety in the mid 90’s to early 2000’s, the Subaru STI brought more attention to World Rally Racing. For those of us older folk when digital cable was evolving, we could watch WRC races on SpeedVision while reading about the success of the WRX in magazines such as Sport compact Car and Turbo Magazine. Following the major success of the equally established Mitsubishi Evolution in 2003, Subaru made the right move by debuting the STI shortly after.
With a unique blue interior with Alcantara seats, the 2004 STI had an amazing drivers seating position, a 2.5-liter flagship EJ25 that made nearly 300 HP, and it was mated to a very strong 6-speed gearbox. Subaru’s all-wheel-drive technology quickly gave the STI the upper-hand in competition for weekend autocrosses and track days. COBB Tuning was very busy at the time developing their highly esteemed Accessport to smooth out other popular modifications such as the GrimmSpeed Intake, Tomei Expreme Ti Cat-Back Exhaust, and GrimmSpeed Boost Control Solenoid. But it was quickly discovered that the STI really benefited from a set of Whiteline 24mm Front and Rear Sway Bar Kit. 20 years after the release of the 2004 STI, it remains as one of the best rally-inspired all-wheel-drive turbocharged sedans that continues to dominate the used car market.
