And don’t forget, if you’re not registered at SubiSpeed’s website, do it now. Because you will receive emails and alerts for the latest upcoming sales for Black Friday, as well as Cyber Monday. Now let’s get back to some of the more preferred items that are highly desired during the Black Friday sales event.

    CAT BACK EXHAUST SYSTEMS

This is the first mod that every enthusiast performs on a new or new-to-them Subaru. And many simply like to upgrade their pre-existing modified cat-back if it’s too loud, or if they just want to get the exhaust they’ve always wanted. All  of the examples that we proudly carry are designed to improve the performance by adding both horsepower and torque. But the main reason why enthusiasts love cat-back systems is for the sound. Subarus have that distinct flat-four rumble, and a good cat-back exhaust system simplifies that rumble especially in the upper RPM range.

    COLD AIR INTAKES

Universally one of the best performance upgrades especially for turbocharged vehicles. The OEM airbox in most vehicles features an airbox which as been designed to protect the filter from engine bay heat, moisture, and the obvious elements. The problem is that paper filters are very restrictive. Cold Air Intake systems feature a large cone-style filter that traps the tiniest of micro elements, while allowing the engine to inhale a larger volume of air to greatly increase the throttle response while reducing turbo spool time. But note that all cold air intake systems are not created equal. Many of which will require a tune because your MAF won’t recognize the larger increase in air. Because of those reasons, you need to make sure that you have the proper engine management which can be found below.

PLUG AND PLAY PROGRAMMABLE ENGINE MANAGEMENT

Most of you with a modded Subi will have a COBB Accessport installed. But there are some of you who have a newer VA STI model, a new VB WRX, or you might find a rare stock Subaru that may not have one. When adding mods to your Subaru or any vehicle that you can upgrade, you are going to make more power and more boost that is outside of your ECU’s pre-programmed OEM parameters. Without a tune, you could hit boost cut because your boost control solenoid is making more than the recognized boost levels. You could hit fuel cut because a catted downpipe and cat-back exhaust will free up more boost and your OEM fuel pump can’t keep up with the programmed fuel trims. An Accessport is the single most important upgrade you can do to your Subaru especially if you plan on making staged modifications because there are downloadable MAPS available on COBB’s website that will work with current and future modifications. Otherwise, you’re on borrowed time trying to run your car hard without a tune. The Accessport will make sure that whatever mods you have within reason, will all work seamlessly together.

    COILOVERS

The masses have spoken, Coilovers are one of the most favorite suspension mods on your Subaru. This is because you can adjust the ride height to accommodate your stance, your wider aftermarket wheels, or your specific suspension geometry for purpose-built race cars. Now there are some who prefer lowering springs to keep things relatively stock, but it is pretty labor intensive as once you get one strut and spring assembly removed from one corner of your Subaru, you have to rent or buy a spring compressor tool, remove the top hat, release the OEM spring, install the lowering spring, get the top mats back on, and re-install. Coilovers for the most part that include top hats are direct replacements for your OEM struts and spring assembly. And the ride height is adjustable by simply and safely removing a wheel, loosening the spring perches with the included spanner wrenches, and twist the strut body into the lower mount until the desired ride height is reached. We have several options available brought to you by the most trusted and established brands to improve the looks, the handling, and the ride quality of your Subaru.

    EXTERIOR LIGHTING

HEADLIGHTS, TAILLIGHTS, and AUXILIARY LIGHTS are a great way to modernize the exterior of your Subaru especially if you happen to have an older model. LED technology has made leaps and bounds in terms of providing a brighter light that is better for driver visibility, while using less energy when compared to older halogen-style bulbs. At the same time, the level of customized designs in terms of making sequential turn signal functions, daytime running lights, with availability in a great combination of lens and housing finishes provides you with more choices. For looks, lighting surface coverage in harsh weather conditions, and driver visibility, there are plenty of exterior lighting options that are available to further customize your Subaru.

    SHIFT KNOBS

Affordable, yet makes a great difference in the interior whether if you want to change things up or if you are in the middle of an interior refresh. Aside from the steering wheel and seats, the shift knob experiences major wear-and-tear. And a fresh leather OEM unit or a custom stainless steel or Delrin unit from many quality choices will breathe new life in your interior. For those of you who are shopping for the gearhead in your life this holiday season, this is a great gift idea that any car enthusiast will appreciate, and it won’t break the bank.

    SWAY BARS

One of the greatest handling mods that greatly benefit Subaru’s from the AWD WRX/STI, to the RWD BRZ. Sway bars greatly reduce body roll during high-speed cornering to provide the driver with better control of the vehicle for better driver feedback and confidence. They maximize and improve the footprint of your tires to improve traction, and they are available in a variety of thicknesses to accommodate how stiff you want your suspension to feel. During autocross events or weekend track days, the chassis and suspension response will be a lot sharper, and it’s a great overall upgrade that improves the driving experience while having a spirited drive through the canyons or even on the daily commute to work. Aside from coilovers, sway bars make for one of the top suspension mods that you can perform on your Subaru.

    CLUTCHES

There are a few ways to quickly smoke your clutch. One, you could have one too many launches that load all torque on your disc and you end smelling something burning. The next way is by simply having mods that make more power and torque that surpass the limits of your clutch. Yes, clutches have a torque rating. The OEM clutch has been designed to handle around 300-wheel torque, so if you have the OEM clutch trying to support a cold air intake, turbo back exhaust, upgraded intercooler, injectors, and an Accessport, you are making around 350 to the wheel. This means that your engine will overspin the clutch disc, as well as the load rating on your OEM pressure plate. Upgraded clutch kits will feature a heavy pressure plate along with a disc that is made using materials that are made using friction materials that can endure more heat, while having a different pad design to grip that flywheel. Because if your clutch is slipping, you are not putting down the power to your Subaru’s fullest potential. Quickest way to know if your clutch is slipping? While in a higher gear such as 5th, give it a full throttle blip for a few seconds and see if your RPM’s shoot quickly to the top. If your vehicle’s speed doesn’t match your engine’s speed, you need a new clutch. But before purchasing, think about how much power you either have currently, and most importantly and realistically, how power you plan on making in the nearest future. Because like certain engine mods, you can overdo it with the wrong clutch. A clutch too aggressive designed to support 700+ FT/LBS of torque may not be the most streetable clutch to drive and can overall almost ruin your driving experience. Get the appropriate clutch that suits your power levels.

    TURBOCHARGERS

Now this is for those of you who really want to make the holidays special for yourself, or for the loved one this Christmas. Being a car enthusiast and opening a gift and seeing a turbocharger would be like being 5 years old again and getting exactly what you asked Santa for. We have a vast selection of turbochargers from OEM units to turbochargers that can flow substantial amounts of horsepower. Just make sure that you have the proper supporting mods to handle a larger turbo otherwise you’ll be shopping for a new motor. Yet remember with some of our older Subaru models, you could greatly benefit from a mild turbo upgrade that is bolt-on, and can make 400 HP. Nonetheless, there are so many options available to accommodate your current and future boosting needs this Christmas.

So, after you’re stuffed this Thanksgiving, some of you will be waiting out in the freezing cold for those door-buster deals. Black Friday will be filled with traffic, packed shopping malls, Mariah will be on repeat every other radio station. It’s another holiday season. Be safe, and luckily for you performance enthusiasts, you can shop from the comfort of your home or mobile device here at SubaiSpeed.
