Like most turbocharged vehicles, the EJ responds very well to a quality intake system whether it be a short ram or a cold air setup. The factory intake can become very restrictive especially if you perform other modifications such as a downpipe and cat-back that will add more power and torque. The turbocharger can only breathe so much but a cold air intake system will remove any obstructions associated with the factory airbox, and will allow the turbocharger to breathe in a larger volume of air. This will reduce the turbo lag allowing the turbo to go full steam ahead, making more power and torque.
