Wobbles and shakes and falls off
By Anthony November 1, 2020strange, my first review didn't post. In any case, I cannot recommend this product. In both our CX-5 and WRX, this unit wobbles and shakes while holding a phone (Galaxy S7-Active/S8-Active), and when driving over uneven or rough road surfaces, the unit will fall off the vent. It grips the phone just fine (without a case), but the rubber grippers that hold the vent slat cannot cope with the weight of the phone. Think of it like a weight at the end of a lever; that weight is multiplied. Note: the non-arm version worked better). I also, the standard scent stinks and smells like soap. I highly encourage getting another scent pack (I went with the tropical).

Wobbles and shakes and falls off
By Anthony October 21, 2020I cannot recommend this Scosche vent mount. Even with my older, and smaller Galaxy S7 Active, this phone holder wobbles and shakes with every undulation in the road. I tested it in both our WRX and CX-5, and although it slides onto vents in each car okay, the rubber vent grip pads do not keep the mount stable. Even with it resting on the lower edge of the vent housing, the mount would wobble side-to-side and if the bump jolted enough, the whole thing (phone attached) would fall off. As far as the phone grip, it does okay. The phone grips did better without a case on the phone (Galaxy S7 Active and S8 Active used). The holder did a better job w/o a case on each phone. But it doesn't matter, this holder will get seldom use unless we are doing a long highway trip with lots of smooth, flat pavement. One more thing, the included fragrance pod included stinks and smells like soap. It was so bad that it left a nasty taste in my mount and I didn't even open the pod. This was just the residual scent from it being in the package.
