PTP Turbo Blanket
The PTP Turbo Blankets Lava Turbo Blanket is a great option to contain potentially excessive underhood engine temperatures. The heat created from your turbocharger can be harmful, especially to your intercooler due to heat soak. And if you ever get caught in a situation where traffic doesn’t move, or you’re waiting in line at the local autocross, the heat doesn’t have a real means of escaping so it will build right at the source of the turbocharger, and exhaust components which can cause heat soak.
The outer layer of the PTP Turbo Blanket is crafted from actual pulverized lava rock, and it is formed into the fabric, and then woven into a tight mesh weave. These are internally insulated with high-temperature calcium magnesium silicate wool, and overlaid with a high-temperature silica fabric for increased durability for improved thermal resistance. These turbo blankets are designed to withstand the harshest of conditions.
Overall by keeping the heat contained within the turbocharger, expect improved efficiency, and cooler underhood temperatures. Your intercooler and surrounding engine components will be protected from the heat, and more importantly, your intake will have a cooler air charge.

By Bas April 4, 2023Instructions say to remove TMIC and stock heat shield but also removing the bolts for the lower heat shield helped tremendously to move the shield around and free up more space to wrap the blanket around the turbo. You will have a pretty strong odor from the blanket heating up the first few times.
