The Invidia divorced wastegate downpipes for the 2008-2021 Subaru STI are designed to replace the restrictive, OEM two-piece downpipe that contains not one but two standard catalytic converters. Invidia made the 2015-2020 Subaru STI downpipe from mandrel bent 3" stainless steel and welded on a thick flange and a cast stainless steel housing to provide maximum airflow and improved performance. A divorced wastegate downpipe has a plate that protrudes into the turbo to separate exhaust flow coming out of the turbo to reduce turbulence. This is optimal for stock and smaller-sized turbo upgrades. The high-flow catted Invidia STI downpipe is not emissions legal, and may still cause a CEL in some cases. The high-flow catted downpipe also helps to reduce boost spike by adding back pressure to the turbo system.
This is the Invidia Catted Divorced Wastegate Downpipe. The factory downpipe is highly restrictive by the nature of the design and begins right after the turbocharger leaving much room for improvement. Invidia really opens up the exhaust flow path with their downpipe by developing a unit that combines a larger piping diameter with smooth bends. This will allow the turbocharger to exhale those exhaust gases with fewer restrictions and turbulence for unobstructed flow right out of the cat-back exhaust system. Because of these reasons, downpipes make for the most popular exhaust upgrade that adds a substantial bump in both horsepower and torque with a great reduction in turbo lag
