AIRAID MXP Series Intake

The 2015 Mustang is all-new and better than ever, so AIRAID pulled out all the stops to develop the best Cold Air Intake systems for the all-new platform. Building on AIRAID’s extremely popular Cold Air Intakes for late-model Mustangs, AIRAID’s new MXP-Series Intakes for the 2015 5.0L GT and the 2.3L EcoBoost deliver what performance enthusiasts demand: easy bolt-on performance gains and great looks in one complete package.

The new intakes feature a specially designed one-piece rotomolded intake box that draws cool outside air from the factory cold air duct location while having a unique shape that promotes airflow all the way around the filter. The all-new air box design utilizes a lid with a Plexiglass window that adds underhood styling while keeping the filter isolated from hot engine compartment air and allowing the user to keep tabs on filter condition. The massive 1300-cfm air filter is available with traditional oiled filter media in red or SynthaMax dry media in red, blue, or black. All AIRAID filters are washable and reusable while carrying a lifetime warranty.

New application-specific intake tubes connect the air box assembly to the throttle body on the engine. Designed to maximize airflow and eliminate restrictions, the 5.0L intake tube measures 4” in diameter at the throttle body to support other engine modifications while having a specially formed venturi to ensure accurate MAF sensor readings. The 2.3L EcoBoost intake tube has similar features and is 3.5” in diameter at the throttle body.

SynthaFlow Oiled vs SynthaMax Dry

The following charts illustrate the differences between the two types of filters. This is not the filter for this application, but it gives you a general idea of performance. The dry filter is easier to maintain, but the oiled filter offers the highest potential for performance.

SynthaFlow Oiled Filter

SynthaFlow is Airaid's original oiled air filter design. They use multiple layers of cotton gauze combined with the Synthaflow layer, a unique synthetic material, to catch almost twice as many paticulates as the traditional paper air filters. These layers of material are formed and held in place by a durable epoxy coated wire mesh with a unique ridge design. These ridges and valleys in the air filter are then coated with AIRAID's air filter oil to help catch even more particulates. The oil is applied after cleaning the filters every 30K - 50K miles with AIRAID's air filter cleaner.

SynthaMax Dry Filter

The SynthaMax air filter has two layers, an inner and outer layer of wire mesh for durable support of filtration which helps prevent the air filter from collapsing under high air flow. The inner layer consists of two layers of synthetic materials that both provide outstanding air flow (low restriction) and high filtration. Particulates are first trapped in the outer layer of synthetic needlefelt polyester material designed for wet and dry filtration with high air flow capacity. The inner layer of (wet-laid / chemical bonded) (rayon / polyester) captures any remaining particulates while maintaining high air flow and low restriction. The AIRAID® Synthamax air filter is made completely of synthetic fibers, is washable and does not need to be oiled which makes clean up easier. The true benefit to this air filter is its lifetime no hassle warranty and Airaid's unique filter design.
