Morimoto Retro-quik Bi-Xenon HID Headlight Retrofit Kit

2015+ WRX / 2015+ STI

A complete HID retrofit is how you get the sharpest cutoff around. These components rival and actually outperform many OEM setups. While they do require removal of the headlight assembly and lens, the payoff is high! 1 kit includes the proper components to retrofit 1 entire vehicle. The hardware is specifically designed for the WRX.

Out of the dark and into the light. That's the goal of the Retro-Quik kit. Put the light exactly where you need it. This is a great upgrade for any WRX base or premium model. The Retro-Quik kits bring us closer to a plug and play option with its brackets that allow you to mount the new projectors without cutting.

Retrofitting: has never been so easy! Designed to be a "bolt-on" upgrade for the 2015+ WRX, the Morimoto Retro-Quik system uses laser cut brackets made of military-grade G10 Fiberglass to adapt high-performance projectors in place of the de-tuned stock units. Here, there is no need to worry about alignment, major cutting, drilling, glue, etc. Out with the old and in with the new!

Morimoto H1 7.0 Projectors: Let's keep it simple and make a list of everything new about the 7.0. The optically clear lens. The 7-signed metal lens holder. The side-push bi-xenon solenoid mechanism. The die-cast radically curved cutoff shield. The foreground limiter. The reflector bowl. The IR, high-temp resistant reflector finish. The threaded shaft and it's precision and added length. The results! The beam is wider. The distribution of light more proper. Your ability to see is better.

Morimoto XB Ballasts: Feature relocated igniters like OEM ballasts putting them far closer to the HID bulb. The lack of high voltage transmitted through wiring drastically reduces EMI/RFI (radio interference). Total system reliability is also improved by shielding the main circuit board from the static produced by these high voltage bursts on start up giving them a failure rate of less than .02%!

Morimoto XB H1 Bulbs: At the heart of the XB H1 bulbs is their perfectly aligned 100% Philips Quartz glass that houses a capsule from APL-USA. Using high quality halide salts from German-supplier Messer; the bulbs produce nearly the same luminosity (intensity) as the amazing Osram CBI bulbs at 5500K. No, you're not seeing things here, but yes you will be seeing everything at night.

Morimoto Relay Harnesses: Have fulled-sealed weather pack relays with revised circuitry, heavy-duty 14ga stranded copper wire, injection molded inline fuse holders, and full plug-n-play functionality. Forget about cutting and splicing, because all harness options in this kit will make your new low and high beam function perfectly from the original cabin controls.

NOTE: This kit comes with WRX specific hardware to mount the projectors. Includes 100mm housing caps for sealing the rear of the headlights.

Optional Item

RetroRubber - If you do not have spare butyl sealant in hand, RetroRubber or other butyl sealant is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The OEM sealant may not do a good job of resealing the headlight! TRS RetroRubber can be stretched to the proper length and width to fit the headlight casing channel.

SubiSpeed Install Video

This video documents the retrofitting process. The kit shown was BEFORE custom brackets were available. This kit includes them to BYPASS cutting the housing and utilizes H1 bulbs instead of D4S.

It is not recommended that you touch the glass portion of the bulb for any reason. Oils from your hands can cause the bulb to shatter once it heats up. Handle the bulb by its base only.

Honestly, to be fair I knew what I was getting myself into (sorta. For the avg home mechanic the whole entire process of prepping, take down, and install should take you about half the day. For me it took two days (yeah, yeah). But I like my wires neat and organized (shrink wrap, mounted and hidden). The Product: The product came packaged very well from "SubieSpeed" and shipped for free (A+) in my book as long as you don't mind the wait. Morimoto products are amazing lots of my follow Subie friends swear by them so I had to partake. Morimoto packaging was all labeled and organized, though no physical instructions come with as they are all on their site. Everything from the Ballast, projectors, to the wiring is IMO very well done. The Install: Since this is a full package i was expecting someone to provide a complete detail on how to wire the included relay or the proper mounting of the Ballast. Lucky I was able to find all this information via Morimoto, Subie Speed video and Make sure you have all of your tools and extra material ready and make sure you buy the re sealant glue!!! You’re paying for a nice system don't sell yourself short of not getting the glue!! All in all take your time make sure you test fit everything before resealing your lights (I didn't) and had to take apart one of the lights again (which with the new glue was even harder than the stock glue.) Overall: Over all once your finish with the install of the retro fit you real can see the difference of the lighting system. The cut off is AMAZING and light output is priceless. If you have the time (like a weekend), and want a nice retro fit, then this is the kit to buy!!! Comes with everything you need. Recommendation: Since you are taking apart the headlights, I recommend that you take the time and install a C light mod (Morimoto or Diode Dynamic) You need to remove the bumper so it’s a perfect time to upgrade the horns (Hella Horns), or the fog lights & turn signals (Morimoto or Diode Dynamic) or JDM grill.
