JDM Style Door Cup Protectors
These pre-cut vinyl protection stickers install in the door cup behind your door handles. They protect your existing paint / clearcoat from scratches and give it a textured appearance.
Design inspiration came from TRD and STIs recent addition of carbon like door cup protectors. Those are made out of a thicker material and more expensive.
SOLD AS 3 PCS. Only 2 pcs required per vehicle. Two extra pieces are shipped so there is room for error during installation as you become more familiar with the material.
Not All Materials are Created Equally
When purchasing vinyl overlays, keep in mind that not all materials are created equally. I use premium vinyl which has high initial costs, but are the industry standards for high quality materials. Also made in the USA. Dragon Wrap™ Carbon Fiber Films (3D Carbon) is a 5.6 mil calendered vinyl film featuring a clear repositionable permanent acrylic adhesive on an air-egress liner. This film has excellent dimensional stability, outstanding durability and outdoor performance. This repositionable permanent adhesive offers minimal initial bond growing to permanent bonds that facilitates application of large graphics. The air egress liner also aids in large graphic application. Minimum application temperature is 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Up to 5 year durability outdoors. Rated EXCELLENT for WATER RESISTANCE, HUMIDITY RESISTANCE, and SOLVENT RESISTANCE.
INSTRUCTIONS
See last photo for install diagram.
Please follow these guidelines for the best results. Clean the painted surface behind the door handles. It is good to have a hair dryer or heat gun around during install. Light heat can help you shape the product. The top of the cut out is labeled on the back side. Make sure that the relief cuts are separated by gently pulling the tabs to the side of section A out (see picture 2 above). You will want to align this area horizontally behind the door handle. Once this is pushed flat against the paint (use your fingers), you can start at point B1 or B2. Push down in the center and then push the material to the left. Extra material should overlay in the area of the relief cuts. Then complete the top or bottom by pushing the material out from the center to the right. If you started with B1, do the same to B2 and vice versa.
NOTE 1: Using heat, like a heat gun or hair dryer helps the adhesive bond and can stretch the product if needed to fill in gaps when positioning. When using heat, start low and learn how the heat affects the vinyl. My rule of thumb is that if you wouldn't heat your fingers to that temperature, you might want to think twice about heating the vinyl to it! The DIY install will leave you proud of the work you've done. A great conversation piece as others will probably want to know how you did it all.
NOTE 2: The diagram picture is for another model. However your overlay will look similar.

Good quality but tough to get on correctly
Decided to try these out since I have scratches all over my door cups. The quality of them is nice, the sticker is pretty thick and feels good but man are they a pain to get on correctly. I did not have a heat gun handy at the time so I had issues with wrinkles all over. Luckily these are pretty cheap so I'll just order another pair and try my luck again but with a heat gun this time.
